Kiddie Dessert Contest

It's time for dessert. The dessert table is waiting for your kids! Deerfield Community Nursery School (DCNS) will have its first ever "Lil' Bake-off" fundraiser at the Deerfield Farmers Market on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Children ages two to seven are invited to submit their creative dessert idea, non-baked goods welcomed, for a chance to win some real goodies. Prizes include a one-hour kids cooking class with Deerfield's own Gale Gand, a mother of three, celebrated chef, Food Network host and cookbook author of Gale Gand's Brunch!: 100 Fantastic Recipes for the Weekend's Best Meal.

The contest will be judged by Chef Michael Gottlieb of Townhouse in Deerfield, Marla Levitt from Sweet Bites in Highland Park, and Mary Oppenheim, one of our very own Deerfield Village Trustees. Children will be divided into two groups: ages 2 - 4 and 5 - 7 year olds. They will be judged on presentation, creativity/uniqueness and overall yumminess. Four winners from each age group will be awarded a delightful prize (see prize list below).

According to contest rules/guidelines (found below), the dessert entries must be prepared by the children with adult supervision. Entries will be accepted at the DCNS booth at the Farmers Market the morning of the event until the judging begins at 10:15 a.m. Lil' Bake-off registration fee is $20 prior to event, day-of registration is $25. Early registration will be accepted until Friday, July 8 by sending an email with child and guardian's names, email address, and phone number to erinmangurten@hotmail.com or by phone 773/519-3568.

Deerfield Community Nursery School (DCNS), a developmental nursery school, has been teaching and caring for Deerfield's children since 1954.

   - 4th:  One certificate for breakfast for two from Kevin's Place in Deerfield
